Masar is the instrumental side-project of Egyptian group Eskenderella.
This quartet brings together some of the most talented Egyptian musicians of the younger generation. Its line-up includes Hazim Shaheen on the oud, Nawar Abbessi on the piano, Hani Bdeir on oriental percussions and U.S.-born Miles Jay on the contrabass.
Masar is a remarkable synthesis of the diverse styles and personalities of these four accomplished young musicians, with particular focus on Hazem Shahine’s unique compositional talents. Within a clear oriental context, nuances of western classical music and jazz add subtle layers and depth to the sound of this unique quartet.
