Samer Mohdad was born in Bzebdine, Lebanon in 1964. In 1988, he obtained a diploma in art photography from Liege, Brussels and began working in Paris for Vu. In 1989, he was the recipient of the Nikon Award and held an exhibition called “The Other Side of War” at the Museum of Photography at Charleroi. In 1991, he received an award at the World Press Photo, exhibited at the Charleroi Triennial, and began work on “My Arabias” by traveling to Algeria and Yemen. Throughout his years as a freelance photographer, he has received numerous grants, juried at World Press Photo, exhibited and curated numerous times at the Elysee Museum, and has been published in the German magazine, Du. Mohdad has taught many documentary photography workshops, and is widely exhibited throughout Europe. His books include Les Enfants de la guerre du Liban, 1995, and Mes Arabies, 1999.
