Khatchadourian, Eileen

Rock | Lebanon

Eileen Khatchadourian, a long name certainly, only a name to be remembered: Brought up in an Armenian family of classical musicians, Eileen’s wide musical culture and love for Rock music bred her debut album, MIDAN, which means Home in Armenian.

A blend of Armenian melodies, Middle-Eastern grooves, ethnic instruments and raw electric and electronic sounds, MIDAN is distinctive in its musical content. Produced by Mazen Siblini (synths) and Miran Gurunian (guitars), and accompanied by Jad Aouad (drums) and Haytham Shalhoub (bass), MIDAN was recorded in Beirut, Lebanon, by Philip Tohme (previous works include Tania Saleh, blend, Ziad Rahbani, Feyruz, Touffic Farroukh)and mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, in London, by Geoff Pesche (Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and Sigur Ros among others).

On December 17th and 18th, 2008, Midan was launched at Theatre Monot, preceded by a showcase concert; Along with her musicians, Eileen struck in awe the audience, of different age categories, and the feedback and critique was very much elevating and encouraging.

Accompanied by the Lebanese post-rock band ‘blend’, Eileen Khatchadourian presented excerpts from Midan at the 2008 Dubai International Jazz Festival, and is booked for a tour in Europe and the US for the year 2009.

Throughout her professional career as a singer/songwriter, Eileen captured her wider-growing audience, with her unique voice, moving and imposing, and with her spontaneous performance, reaching the heart and the very core of those who appreciate art and music under their many forms.
