Solemn reading with a melodic component of sacred texts and prayers occupies a central place in the monotheistic Abrahamic religions. This cantillation is found, in particular, at the heart of Islamic religious practice -- notably in the form of Qur'anic recitation. With its stylized elaborations and improvised melismas, it constitutes an example of religious art in which musical creativity stretches to infinity while remaining bound to Logos and actually inspired by it. The master of this cantillatory art in Lebanon, the Sheikh Salah Yammout, offers here the recitation of excerpts from Sūrat Āli ‘Imrān, Sūrat Yūsuf, and Sūrat a-n-Nūr.
